At the end of June we catered at The Suffolk Barn in Hawstead. The couple were both massive fresh food foodies with hundreds of English and Polish ideas, which after several meetigns we eventually whittled down to a very client driven menu.
I had always been reluctant to serve goats cheese tart as it’s a bit of a wedding cliché, but with caramelised onion in the homemade base, topped with roasted red pepper, freshly cooked, and served warm as a canapes they were fantastic: I found it difficult to only taste one.
Lovely English oven dried tomatoes on a freshly made crostini rubbed with a homemade pesto topped with mozzarella, Chive cream cheese with smoked salmon on pumpernickel.
Mains were wood smoked lamb joints, table served alongside chicken thighs roasted with sumac red onions and zaa’tar. A proper Greek salad with home-grown oregano and the clients favourite recipe, a Moroccan sweet potato salad.
Dessert English Summer fruit Pavlovas
Evening food was Greek chicken kebabs served with grilled red onions, peppers, lettuce
Cucumber, raw red cabbage, minty yoghurt sauce and a homemade chilli sauce.
These were char grilled on our charcoal Barbeque and then put in little wraps and served to standing guest. A lovely wedding at Suffolk Barn in Hawstead a well-equipped beautiful barn with fantastic views.
